MP Foote on Retirement of Premier Danny Williams

Judy Foote, Member of Parliament for Random-Burin-St. George’s extends best wishes to Premier Danny Williams following the announcement of his retirement from public office.
“Danny Williams has served the people of Newfoundland and Labrador with energy, determination and commitment since first being elected in 2001 and serving as Premier since 2003,” said Foote. “As Premier, he is to be commended for his dedication to improving the province’s place in Canada and the world.”
“Newfoundlanders and Labradorians regard Premier Williams with affection and appreciation. The Premier’s contributions to developing the oil, gas and resource sectors as well as the recent Lower Churchill hydroelectric project are expected to provide economic opportunities for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador for generations to come,” said Foote. “Many credit Premier Williams’ leadership with instilling in Newfoundlanders and Labradorians a greater sense of confidence and pride in themselves and their province.”
“Premier Williams can be proud of his achievements as he leaves the helm of our great province,” said Foote. “On behalf of the people of Random-Burin-St. George’s, I wish him all the best, most importantly good health, as he embarks on a new chapter in his life.”
“I take this opportunity to congratulate incoming Premier Kathy Dunderdale on her appointment and wish her well as she moves into yet a more challenging role within government. Undoubtedly her experience to date will serve her well in the coming months,” said Foote.
